What to Wear in Alaska in Summer
Your Alaska packing list should include clothes for a typical summer vacation. Bring along swimsuits, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Remember it’s the land of the midnight sun. From May through September, days are longer in Alaska than in the lower states. Bring comfortable hiking shoes, casual clothes, and layers for sunshine days and starlit nights.
Daytime temperatures are pleasant during the summer with highs of approximately 60 to 80 degrees. At night it may dip to the 40s or 50s, so bring a jacket or two to wear when it’s cool.
Plan to dress in layers. You may want to bring a hat to keep your ears warm at night.
